You may be surprised to know that Florida is holding $2 BILLION dollars of unclaimed cash owed to about 8 MILLION people nationwide! These unclaimed accounts have been abandoned or forgot about by the account owner and now lay in the Florida Department of Financial Services possession until claimed.

Citizens nationwide need to be notified about the ever-growing amount of unclaimed cash in Florida and nationwide. Minimal advertising is not reaching the millions of people owed the money from the unclaimed accounts.

Over $171 MILLION was returned to the rightful owners in the fiscal year of 2006. This is an increase of over $70 MILLION from the previous fiscal year of 2005, which totaled $101 MILLION in unclaimed cash returned.

Not only is there currently a massive amount of FL unclaimed funds but Florida unclaimed cash is on the rise. While this may seem like a lot of unclaimed funds returned, there was $271 Million added to the unclaimed money pot in Florida.

This means the unclaimed money total is growing by about $100 MILLION per year!

People should conduct a simple search using their name, and other aliases, to see if they are owed unclaimed funds. This can be done in a quality database that covers all state and federal unclaimed money funds.

Bill McIntosh, founder of www.cashunclaimed.com, a comprehensive unclaimed money database, stated, "It takes only seconds to conduct a search to see if you are owed unclaimed money and could very possibly mean a check in the mailbox for millions of people. The only reason I can think of that would explain the rise in unclaimed funds in Florida is that people are unaware of the high likelihood they are owed unclaimed cash."

People conducting a search for their unclaimed money should also search the names of their immediate family members and notify them if unclaimed accounts are found in their name.

Claiming the lost funds requires a standard claim for and proof of identification such as a license and/or birth certificate. Occasionally some claims require proof of ownership or entitlement to the unclaimed cash. This is usually the case when an heir is claiming the unclaimed account.
